And Now 2021, a New Year

Grrrrrr! But it will get better eventually. Can't believe that it was this time last year that we were organising launch parties for "The Mermaid Rides Again" with Covid something that was happening somewhere else. How wrong we were and my poor mermaid isn't even allowed to ride to the seaside unless she has a proper reason. Thank goodness for Zoom, keeping us in touch with friends and opening up the entire world for music and poetry sessions. This time last year I hadn't contracted the Rhyming Disease (rumoured to have started in Newfoundland and spread by Ken, Harry and Uncle Mose)and I hadn't met Oddfellows from all over the country (courtesy of Maretta's Monday afternoons). I hadn't considered the Fast 800 diet, whilst grimly clutching a chocolate biscuit (back on it now and thanks to Verity for steering me towards the support group). I hadn't learned how to make videos (thanks Independent Arts and Isolation Row for advice and a reason to venture into iPhone movie making). But I have kept writing, despite shameful motivation lapses, and am so looking forward to performing live again when that becomes possible.
And there are some exciting things coming up this year. I will be 75 on St Valentine's Day. There was going to be a party but that ain't going to happen, so will save it for the summer, when we can have a joint celebration with Harley and Jamie .... and the new baby. Yes indeed. I'm going to be a step-grandmama. What delightful opportunities for making up stories and sewing cute romper suits! Meantime, the sun has just peeked out, so I'm off for a muddy walk across the fields.
Stay well and keep your spirits up!
