The Mermaid is Stuck Indoors

As are we all and today is gloomy and damp,so no walk to the woods, no clearing the garden, no music on Wednesday and no lunch because I'm dieting. Aha, must be November! But there are some glorious weeks of relative freedom to look back on, where the weather was kind and we relaxed a little; still masked, keeping our distance and obeying the rules but able to enjoy cake at The End of the Line and Dimbola and wonderful Wednesday evenings for words and music at the Waverley. Hooray for Tim, Julie and the team for keeping us safe and for Anita who organises us. I have shared Steve Love's song," The Music Hasn't Died It's Only Sleeping" on my Facebook page. Think it says it all (and if you like it too, Steve has made a cd of his original Isle of Wight songs. Only £5 and they fit into a Christmas card).

Zoom has continued to flourish and, thanks to Ken Parsons and company, I have written two rhyming stories. The first, which is about a post apocalyptic dating agency, is on my Poetry page. The second is about pie. Have itchy fingers to write another this week and I also need to get to work on an International Interview with Ken on The Liars Bench. It will have an Island theme and will probably feature a mermaid.

Philip has been busy at Beachy Books and has just published a great new book for children, Thingamanose, by Lynne Hudson. It is available through the usual channels, but also through the exciting new online distributors Bookshop.org. They are described as "a socially conscious alternative to Amazon that allows readers to buy books online while supporting their local independent bookseller". Beachy Books is signed up, as is Medina Bookshop in Cowes, so if you want to give it a whirl, it's https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/beachybooks or https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/medinabookshop. The Mermaid books are also available through these sellers of course!Bookshop.org is an interesting concept and it's well worth checking out their business model online.

Must go .. late for zooming with the Oddfellows! Keep safe and sane everyone.

all the best

Sandy
